The Director General of the Opomulero Movement, Hon. Olasupo Olakunori, has defended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s political consultations and consensus-building strategy, stating that consensus remains a legitimate democratic tool for strengthening party unity, preventing internal crisis, and sustaining electoral victory within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting to criticisms surrounding recent political developments in Ondo State, the DG stated that those attacking the Governor’s leadership approach are deliberately ignoring the political stability, reconciliation, and unity currently being enjoyed within the APC under Governor Aiyedatiwa’s administration.
According to Hon. Olasupo, consensus is not a crime but a recognized political mechanism used globally to harmonize interests, reduce unnecessary conflict, and preserve the collective strength of political parties.
“Consensus is not a crime. Politics is about negotiation, understanding, reconciliation, and strategic alignment. Governor Aiyedatiwa is demonstrating leadership by ensuring peace and stability within the APC instead of encouraging destructive internal battles,” he said.
The DG further emphasized that the growing acceptance of Hon. Taiwo Fasoranti across Ondo State is not based on imposition or manipulation but on his years of loyalty, grassroots engagement, humility, and consistent relationship with party members and the people.
“Taiwo Fasoranti’s rising acceptance is natural because he has earned the trust of the grassroots through dedication, accessibility, and loyalty to the party. People are supporting him because they believe in his capacity and political maturity,” the statement added.
Hon. Olasupo also rejected claims that Governor Aiyedatiwa is pursuing politics of vengeance or suppression, insisting that the Governor has remained one of the most peaceful and accommodating leaders in Ondo political history.
He noted that the Governor’s priority remains governance, party stability, grassroots development, and strengthening the APC ahead of future elections rather than engaging in unnecessary political hostility.
The DG therefore urged party members, stakeholders, and political commentators to avoid inflammatory narratives capable of creating tension within the APC, stressing that Ondo people are more interested in development, peace, and continuity than political bitterness.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Opomulero Movement to continue supporting every effort aimed at promoting unity, progress, and electoral success for the APC in Ondo State.
