JAF should stop deceiving himself into believing that every attack on Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa will automatically translate into political relevance. It will not.
Ondo people are watching, listening and making their own judgments. They are no longer impressed by social-media theatrics, politically motivated allegations or attempts to manufacture controversy around a sitting Governor.
If JAF truly has evidence of anti-party activities against Governor Aiyedatiwa, let him present the evidence before the appropriate party organs and the public. This is politics, not a courtroom of social-media insinuations. Photographs, assumptions and carefully constructed narratives cannot replace facts.
The real question JAF must answer is: what exactly is the interest behind his relentless campaign against an APC Governor?
Why has his political voice suddenly become so consistent in attacking Governor Aiyedatiwa? Why does every disagreement conveniently become an opportunity to portray the Governor as the problem? And why should Ondo people accept that narrative without questioning the political interests behind it?
Ondo people are not political pawns.
They will not allow anybody to use the name of Ondo State to market a personal political ambition or settle political scores.
It is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore the political alignment between JAF and Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, popularly known as BTO, particularly when the attacks against Governor Aiyedatiwa fit neatly into a broader political positioning ahead of 2027.
Let us be clear: having political ambition is not a crime. But attempting to weaken another politician, create unnecessary suspicion around an elected Governor and use Ondo people as a platform for personal positioning is unacceptable.
Governor Aiyedatiwa has a mandate. He is governing under the APC platform, and his administration should be judged by its performance, not by the volume of attacks coming from social media.
Those who genuinely care about APC should be interested in strengthening the party, promoting unity and supporting good governance—not constantly creating narratives capable of weakening the party’s elected leadership.
JAF should therefore understand that social-media visibility is not the same thing as political acceptance.
Being loud online does not mean the people are following you.
Ondo people have their own minds. They understand political calculations. They know the difference between genuine criticism and politically motivated attacks. They also know those who stood with the Governor when it mattered and those who are now attempting to create political instability for personal advantage.
Nobody owns Ondo State.
Not JAF. Not BTO. Not any political camp. Not anyone sitting in Abuja.
Ondo State belongs to Ondo people.
And when the time comes, it is Ondo people—not social-media commentators, political alliances or Abuja calculations—that will decide who deserves their support.
Until then, JAF should stop using Governor Aiyedatiwa as a stepping stone to political relevance and stop presenting personal political calculations as the collective position of Ondo people.
The people are watching.
The people are thinking.
And when the time comes, the people will decide.
