The attention of the Opomulero Movement has been drawn to a publication titled “Breaking the Jinx in Ondo: The Cost of Consensus Without Consent – Adegbonmire and Ipinsagba in Focus” by Sola Ajisafe, Esq.
While we respect the right to opinion, it is important to correct the deliberate misrepresentation of facts and the attempt to cast aspersions on the leadership and political strategy of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Contrary to the alarmist narrative being peddled, consensus within a political party is neither an imposition nor an aberration—it is a time-tested democratic mechanism recognized by party constitutions and electoral frameworks when properly guided by consultation, maturity, and collective interest.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s approach is rooted in strengthening party unity, rewarding loyalty, and positioning Ondo State for strategic advantage ahead of 2027. Leadership requires difficult decisions, not populist sentiments disguised as intellectual arguments.
It is misleading to suggest that the Governor seeks to undermine ranking legislators. Rather, his actions are guided by broader political calculations that prioritize the long-term stability, inclusiveness, and electoral strength of the party.
Ondo politics cannot be reduced to individual ambitions or emotional blackmail framed as “institutional memory.” True political growth lies in balancing experience with emerging capacity, ensuring that opportunities are not monopolized but fairly distributed.
The attempt to portray consensus as “coronation” is both exaggerated and intellectually dishonest. Consensus, when driven by stakeholder engagement and party discipline, remains one of the most effective tools for conflict resolution and cohesion within progressive politics.
We therefore urge party members and the public to disregard narratives aimed at creating division where none exists. The APC in Ondo State remains united, focused, and committed to a seamless political future under the leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa.
History will favor those who build, not those who inflame.
